Taupo Auto is your opportunity to get your car out on track in a safe and controlled environment!
Drivers will be split into four groups, taking into account the different abilities of the drivers: Slow, Medium, Fast and Race.
All sessions are 15 minutes long, giving each driver at least five 15 minute sessions on track.

Important Information:
- Passengers are only permitted in vehicles equipped with a roll cage.
- A $50 charge will apply for additional drivers (this can be done at time of booking or on the day).
- Single seaters can be arranged on request. Contact us.
- Bookings are essential and must be made by 4pm the day prior. Walk-ins will not be accepted.

How it works
Drivers will be split into four groups, taking into account the drivers ability: Slow, Medium, Fast, and Race.
7AM
Track gates open.
7:30AM
Registration begins.
8:30AM
Drivers briefing.
8:50AM
Compulsory familiarisation laps begin.
9AM
First session begins. All sessions are 15 minutes long and run throughout the day.
Things you need to know
Safety
You must hold a minimum of an NZTA restricted civil car licence or a valid MNZ competition licence (make sure to bring this with you on the day)
Single Seaters are possible on request. Contact us.
Passengers are only permitted in vehicles equipped with a roll cage
Vehicle must have a current WOF or a current Motorsport NZ log book
Electric cars are not permitted on Taupo Auto track days
What to wear
Frontal Head Restraints (FHR) are mandatory for all vehicles with a 4 point harness or greater. There are many tethered devices that are acceptable, e.g. Hans, NecksGen, Simpson Hybrid, etc.
For Factory Standard cars (lap diagonal belts), a foam neck brace, helmet, fire retardant race suit, and closed in shoes are required.
For Modified Vehicles (roll cage, 4-point harness, etc.), a FHR, helmet, fire retardant race suit, fire retardant shoes and fire retardant gloves are required.
Passengers are required to wear the same safety gear as the driver.
Flame proof cotton overalls are not acceptable.
Must be a car-rated helmet (motorcycle helmets are not acceptable).

FAQS
Is this a Race Day?
No, it is a Track Day for car enthusiasts to get their car out on the track. We have separate dedicated Race Car Test Days available to book.
Can I change the category I am on the day?
Yes, if you would like to drive in a slower/faster group on the day just speak to our Track Controller. If groups aren’t full, then they will get this sorted for you.
What if it rains or I can't attend the day I have booked?
If the weather is unsafe to drive in, we will postpone/cancel the Track Day and will send out an email with the rescheduled Track Day – this is the same for those that cannot come on the day. If they are unable to make the day, we will either reschedule or send a voucher which is valid for 2 years. There are no refunds or reschedules available if a customer starts and then leaves part way through the day.
Can I take a passenger?
You are only able to take a passenger if your car has a roll cage and they are wearing the same safety equipment as the driver.
What licence do I need to ride on a track day?
Minimum of a valid New Zealand restricted drivers' licence (either restricted or full licence).
