Taupō Auto is your opportunity to get your car out on track in a safe and controlled environment!
Drivers will be split into four groups, taking into account the different abilities of the drivers: Slow, Medium, Fast and Race.
All sessions are 17 minutes long, giving each driver at least five 17 minute sessions on track.

Important Information:
- No Passengers.
- This is not a race car test day, but a day for car enthusiasts to drive on a track.
- If you have a roll cage, it must be MSNZ homologated with logbook and you must book in the caged group.
- A $50 charge will apply for additional drivers (this can be done at time of booking or on the day).
- Single seaters are not allowed on Taupō Auto days.
- Bookings are essential and must be made by 4pm the day prior. Walk-ins will not be accepted.

How it works
Drivers will be split into four groups, taking into account the drivers ability: Slow, Medium, Fast, and Race.
7AM
Track gates open.
7:30AM
Registration begins.
8:30AM
Compulsory drivers briefing.
8:50AM
Compulsory familiarisation laps begin.
9.30AM
First session begins. All sessions are 17 minutes long and run throughout the day.
Things you need to know
Safety
You must hold a minimum of an NZTA restricted civil car licence or a valid MSNZ competition licence (make sure to bring this with you on the day)
Single Seaters are not allowed on Taupo Auto Days.
No Passengers allowed.
Vehicle must have a current WOF or a current Motorsport NZ log book
Electric cars are not permitted on Taupo Auto track days
What to wear
Frontal Head Restraints (FHR) are mandatory for all vehicles with a 4 point harness or greater. There are many tethered devices that are acceptable, e.g. Hans, NecksGen, Simpson Hybrid, etc.
For Factory Standard cars (lap diagonal belts), a foam neck brace, helmet, fire retardant race suit, and closed in shoes are required.
For Modified Vehicles (roll cage, 4-point harness, etc.), a FHR, helmet, fire retardant race suit, fire retardant shoes and fire retardant gloves are required.
Flame proof cotton overalls are not acceptable.
Must be a car-rated helmet (motorcycle helmets are not acceptable).

FAQS
Is this a Race Day?
No, it is a Track Day for car enthusiasts to get their car out on the track. We have separate dedicated Race Car Test Days available to book.
Can I change the category I am on the day?
Yes, if you would like to drive in a slower/faster group on the day just speak to our Track Controller. If groups aren’t full, then they will get this sorted for you.
What if it rains or I can't attend the day I have booked?
If the weather is unsafe to drive in, we will postpone/cancel the Track Day and will send out an email with the rescheduled Track Day – this is the same for those that cannot come on the day. If they are unable to make the day, we will either reschedule or send a voucher which is valid for 2 years. There are no refunds or reschedules available if a customer starts and then leaves part way through the day.
Can I take a passenger?
No passengers allowed.
What licence do I need to drive on a track day?
Minimum of a valid New Zealand restricted drivers' licence (either restricted or full licence).
Can I book for another driver?
No, each driver must book for themselves.
Can I sell/give someone else my booking?
No. Booking are non-transferable between drivers.
What happens if I have a roll cage?
If you have a roll cage, it must be MSNZ homologated with logbook and you must book in the caged group.
